by Paris, France’s King Louis XIV, Fort Pontchartrain du Détroit was established as the first permanent French settlement and new center of the fur trade and military power by French officer, Antoine Laumet de la Mothe, Sieur de Cadillac in 1701.

Fort Pontchartrain du Détroit was built along the Detroit River to protect the French fur trade from the British and was named in honor of Louis XIV’s minister of marine and colonies, Louis Phélypeaux de Pontchartrain.

Le Detroit, French for ‘the strait’ eventually came to identify Fort Pontchartrain du Détroit and the surrounding area and after 1751, was known simply as Fort Detroit.

Excellent in every way

The watch is incredibly well finished, well put together, accurate, and beautiful. Customer service is amazing too. I had wanted a 7751-based watch for some time and I am so glad I went with DWC!

Fantastic service, Excellent Product

I recently purchased the 1701 Chrono Moonphase Exhibition as a gift for my husband. I had my eye on the product for some time and it had been out of stock. I reached out to Patrick to inquire about availability and he promptly provided an update on delays with parts and an estimated date with which the product would be available for sale again. He went above and beyond by reaching out to notify me when the product was back in stock. Lead time was impressively quick, the watch was stunning, and there were even some unexpected surprises that came with the watch. When my husband had an issue setting the watch, he called DWC and Patrick personally talked him through it and gave him some tips and tricks. Highly recommend!

I have been waiting for the white dial moonphase with roman numerals. The watch is absolutely gorgeous. The dial detail and clarity surpassed my expectations. It certainly was worth the wait!😀
