Sent by Paris, France’s King Louis XIV, Fort Pontchartrain du Détroit was established as the first permanent French settlement and new center of the fur trade and military power by French officer, Antoine Laumet de la Mothe, Sieur de Cadillac in 1701.
Fort Pontchartrain du Détroit was built along the Detroit River to protect the French fur trade from the British and was named in honor of Louis XIV’s minister of marine and colonies, Louis Phélypeaux de Pontchartrain.
Le Detroit, French for ‘the strait’ eventually came to identify Fort Pontchartrain du Détroit and the surrounding area and after 1751, was known simply as Fort Detroit.

Subtle features highlight the classic format for this watch. Brilliantly placed references to historic links surrounding a modern precision caliber. The leather straps include quick release pins that make them easy enough to swap without tools and the whole watch wears comfortably under my shirt sleeve. Fantastic craftmanship and overall performance.
I love the watch - looks great on the wrist. Customer service was excellent - I ordered over a holiday weekend so I knew it would be a bit slower to ship, which was fine and expected. Communication via email was good. The presentation was really cool - love the leather case but the drawing in the frame with my limited edition # was a cool touch.
