code 313 was created in 1947 as part of an original 86 numbering plan in North America primarily servicing Detroit, the largest city in Michigan.  Long recognized as the historic heart of the American automotive industry and the birthplace of Motown Records (a portmanteau of motor and town), Detroit is referred to alternately as the Motor City and Motown.  Similarly, the city of Detroit is identified by its area code and Detroiters often associate where they are from as, "The Three One Three."

Like Wearing a Unique Piece of Detroit Pop Art!

The Detroit Watch Company's "313" really fits the bill of being an all-purpose daily casual luxury watch. The area code and "dial telephone" theme is eye-catching and whimsical and draws an opportunity to discuss with on-lookers the watch's several homages to local southeast Michigan history. The watch is a conversation starter and it gives the owner the opportunity to show off the high-quality construction and the beautiful intricacy of the mechanical automatic movement - without focusing on the pretension or price of the watch. Wearing the "313" feels like wearing an beautify piece of local Detroit pop art! The "313" comes beautifully packaged with several personalized touches. It is a real treat to unbox! The watch is a great value - a step up from similarly priced commodity brands from Switzerland and elsewhere. The sapphire crystal has an low glare AR coating, and the view into the display back is stunning. The leather and is sturdy and high quality, and it incorporates a comfortable deployant clasp which should lengthen the life of the leather.

My first attempt at a review was way too long… here I go again.

The design of this watch really commands attention boys and girls. Whether you're from Detroit or elsewhere, the 313 has an eye catching style that can't be ignored. For the full effect, make sure you get the exhibition back as the rotor inside matches the dial. Very Clever! The watch is overall high quality… great case, nice strap, deployment buckle and a top grade decorated eta 2824-2 inside. Nicely made, easy to service.

Can't say enough about the personal touch you get from Patrick. It's obvious he and his wife Amy sincerely care about their company, products and their customers. It's a real treat to be able to speak to the people that designed and assembled your watch for you.

As for value, between the style, quality, solid movement and no middle men, you could pay a lot more for something not as special as the 313. Give this watch a good look. If it doesn't float your boat, check out DWC's other offerings! It's good stuff.
